Simple Laundry Hacks You Need To Know

I SPEND MORE TIME WASHING, ironing, folding, and putting away clothes than I do on all of the other household chores combined. I’m a busy working mom, so it’s very important that my clothes are clean, well-pressed, and waiting for me when
I need to grab them on those extra-harried mornings.

Here are some tricks I’ve picked up along the way to make sure my family’s laundry needs are well met! Save money on detergent. Instead of buying expensive, name-brand laundry detergents, add one tablespoon of washing soda (find it in your grocery store’s laundry aisle) to your load along with the inexpensive generic brand of detergent. The mix-true will cut the dirt and grease out of your laundry just as well as the most expensive brand!

Clean your washer. Get out that washing soda once again, because it is a GREAT washing machine refresher. Fill the machine’s soap dispenser with washing soda and run the cleaning cycle through once. Voila!
Dry your clothes faster. Toss in one clean, dry towel in with the wet clothes before starting the dryer. Take the towel out twenty minutes later. The dry towel will absorb some of the excess moisture and speed up drying time.

Get rid of sweater-pilling. Have you ever noticed tiny fabric balls forming on your clothing? This is called fabric pilling. It’s easy enough to get rid of them. Grab your razor out of the shower and “shave” off the little clusters. Periodically clean the razor on another clean cloth. Be careful to keep the fabric flat and shave gently so that you don’t damage the clothing.
Remove lipstick stains. Spray the stain with hairspray, leave for ten minutes, dab with a damp washcloth, and launder as usual.

Stop buying dryer sheets. Did you know that dryer sheets contain toxic chemicals?
Instead, use a couple of tennis ball-sized aluminum foil balls in your dryer to eliminate static cling and fluffy fabric.
